- Efrix was saved by party.

Strong Start #
The wind gently whips around the party, momentarily providing a brief balm for those of you who have felt the scorching embrace of the 🔍 Fire Elemental ➡️ .
Small flakes of blackened skin still occasionally flake from Efrix’s body revealing new pink skin underneath. Her long dirty blond hair which she kept neatly in a braid from the crown of her head is badly singed, but her eyebrows and lashes seem to have regrown nicely from Kito’s healing. She had been holding tightly to both Kito and Robbie, but has realized that the feather fall token she has now tucked into a pocket of her badly singed, but still servicable brown tunic top is keeping her decent safely slowed.
It is a striking scene as your group sees the majestic Zephyr airship, now hundreds of yards away, plummets with increasing speed toward the ground below. Signs of encounter between a group of Warforged {Perception check DC 13 for them to recognize from when they broke up the illegal ring before}. DOES MARK WANT SEIGE TO SHOW UP DEAD???

See a ring of standing stones thru the surrounding trees and bushes (DC 15 Perception check for ground tremor).
Approach the ring of trees and stones thru eerie silence.
Enter the ring.
Trees and bushes attack, grappling the party and trying to squeeze them to death. Awakened Shrub ➡️

Giant Crocodile ➡️Träger disappears (DC 17 Perception check - smell of brimstone) as a massive 🔍 Giant Crocodile ➡️ runs into the ring.
Vak-isul morphs from the 🔍 Giant Crocodile ➡️ into a large Orc Druid -
6'5" highly muscled with large protruding lower incisors, a topknot bound with green bands around which his head has been shaved clean. His nose is pierced through with a bar bell, and his grey green skin is covered in tattoos of black, but not like a dragon marked.Träger re-appears far across the circle from the action. Sees Vak-isul, and casts 🔎 Burning hands ➡️ at the trees which are holding the party. TPK
In the next moment you hear a cosmic tearing sound and see Träger reach toward a tear through which a horrible vision can be seen {DC 14 Charisma Check or take (1d4) psychic damage}. The Druid screams a throaty NO and claps his hands together as Träger reaches into the rift. The rift closes in a flash of brilliant emerald green. {Everyone make a death save} Träger screams as he disappears in another cloud of acrid black smoke, but his location is easy to follow from the remainder of his scream. {Everyone make a death save} Just outside of the ring of standing stones another tear more like a bubble has opened and Träger slips through as the last echos of his scream die out.

The evil one knew what it was he was doing. This place has been hidden for centuries and no outsider has ever seen this place. Even within our sect the GateKeepers of only the highest order may learn of the location of Ga Hoole, so that they may send their most promising acolytes to become one of the 5 Guardians of Ga Hoole. That is just what I asked of them just over 3 nights ago after we were attacked by men of metal like this one (gestures to Quiver). The evil one knew that beneath the great seal stone here
gestures toward sealthere is a chamber with no entrance within which rests the tablet of the great Druid Ga Hoole set atop 5 pure veins of electrum, platinum, gold, silver, and copper which encircle a giant dragonshard. It is that tablet that stabilized the great seal which is largest of the Gate Seals. How he knew of the unknowable, is a great mystery. I was embraced by the father earth and brought to the chamber. The tablet is what the evil one stole.
He pauses then stirs from his reverie.
I spared you for it has been foretold that at the time of the Great Weaknesses those that would save the world would arrive with those that would break the world. This has for centuries been interpreted as the GateKeepers would have a resurgence before the Great Weakness. I now realize that we are in decline, and now is that time. The foretelling was speaking of you.
Wait for that to sink in.
Before you track the evil one to retrieve the great seal. I will need you to get for me 5 ingots of the most pure byeshk. From this I can fashion a temporary binding which might hold the great seal for some time while you find the evil one. You must make haste to The Great Crag to find ingots of the highest purity. You must all take the form of a bird and fly WSW until you see a great mountain. In the midst of this you will find The Great Crag city of the Daughters of Sora Kell in Droaam. You must seek out a seller of rare material, and will need to find a way to purchase several hundred gold pieces worth of pure byeshk.
If the party doesn’t pipe up that they cannot shape change he seems irritated and says: now would be the time to go. Why do you wait.
I cannot risk that many days of travel by foot.
Seems to think of somethingI think I have a resolution for this problem. Come with me.
Leads them through the outside of the camp where the druid’s huts are. Walks around a giant hill for about 1000ft.
Here is our resolution (
pats a large outcropping of stone). Yells at the top of his voice - “my old friend… is time to stir”. Nothing happens. Yells more - “Come Trésor we need your aid. Wakey Wakey”. A large eye opens in the outcropping. Blinks lazily for a moment, then all the characters hear a booming voice in their minds. “Hmmmmm…. Isul have you brought me a snack for whatever task it is that you have set for me."
{DC 20 Dex save to remain standing} A large portion of the hill begins shifting and the ground shakes tremendously. The eye closes and is replaced by a very large mouth. A tongue makes smacking sounds and the maw opens wide and begins to reach for the party. If anyone makes to draw weapons Vak-isul will vine snare if needed but just tell them put your weapons away, Trésor is an old trickster and just trying to scare you. Awwwww isul you take all the fun out of meeting new people. And very odd people at that.
Meanwhile several small bushes, boulders, rodents, rabbits etc. tumble off of the moving hillside. Vak-isul calls up vines to save the party from several falling debris. As the rumbling subsides the ‘hillside’ becomes fluid and the party sees hundreds of tiny feet {DC 19 Wisdom, Nature check to recognize it as the feet of a Gargantuan Mimic}.
- Accept?
- If not within 2-3 weeks the seal will fail and hordes of aberrations will flood out of The Shadow Marches.
Perhaps I could buy 3-4 weeks if I could summon a fey, dryad, naiad, or similar, but Xoriat is in ascension strongly here and my summons don't seem to get thru.(DC 5 Int, or Intuition check to recall the staff of the dryad). In the meantime he will have to prepare, train his new guardians when they arrive, and battle the aberrations which will begin to seep through the cracks. He will also prepare a bound lode stone which will point the way to the tablet when it is in the material plane. He also says when the party returns he will have gifts to aid them on their quest. - If return to Sharn to try and get paid Efrix will warn against it, and will encourage the party to take on the quest. Will indicate that there is more to this than they know. That Träger was someone she was asked to watch and gather intel on shortly before the Zephyr was set to leave. She will be tight lipped about anything else - in truth she doesn’t know anything else. Will also remind them they don’t have anything to get paid for.
- If not within 2-3 weeks the seal will fail and hordes of aberrations will flood out of The Shadow Marches.
- Needs group to quickly get the purest byeshk ingots. Must seek out Myshak in The Great Crag in Droaam. About 4 days to get there if using Trésor.

Secrets and Clues #
- The Zephyr is the first Airship made. Thus it is smaller and more worn. The elemental ring stabilizer is in an unusual 3 arm design instead of the typical 4.
- The ‘Trees’ are former brothers of the GateKeepers who have fallen, or passed.
- The chamber the Guardian takes the group to is just outside Vvaraak’s old lair. He would kill the group for defiling her lair if they actually went in.
- Vak-isul’s name is actually Isul - Vak is an label of his rank as now Chief Guardian of Ga Hoole. He almost introduced himself as Kas-Isul - Kas as his former and lowest rank.
- Träger escaped into Xoriat - The Shadow Marches are a place where the material plane and Xoriat often intersect and thus has many aberrations. {DC 11 Arcana check or DC 17 History} or have Vak-isul explain.
- The dragonshard under the great seal was brought forth by Vvaraak. Is it a normal Eberron dragonshard???
- If the party makes it to The Great Crag they may notice a lot of looks from the citizens - News has made it out that they are wanted for murder.
- The group may be ‘detained’ by guards of Sora Katra. She is intrigued by this group of adventures, who has been a thorn in the side of The Tyrants (much to her appreciation), murdered a prominent researcher’s assistant and stolen thousands of gold worth of magical items from his office, and now apparently has the blessing of the great druid Vak-Sigisi.
- Vak-Sigisi is the former head Guardian of Ga Hoole.
GM's Eyes Only
- The adversary is a shapeshifter. His contacts in The Tyrants made him aware of the group.
- Animal is actually an imp shapeshifted. Interestingly pseudodragon and imps both have scorpion like tails. Typically imps cannot assume anything other than a few forms - an indication of the power of the client’s
- The researcher was killed and replaced by adversary. StaubHersteller was Mordenkainen’s researcher and was scheduled to depart for a research trip for the University - and thus was a good way for adversary to get access to the funds needed as well as items.
- The group becomes fugitives of the Sharn law. Mordenkainen discovered the death of his researcher and many valuable magical tools from his laboratory after the group left. He wrongly assumed that he did see his researcher with the group last.
